One of the most dehumanizing experiences one can go through is homelessness. With nowhere to go and no one to turn to, most of these homeless individuals are carrying deep trauma and pain that prevents them from living their lives. Some are recovering from addiction, and some have mental illnesses. In this episode, we talk with Troy Vaughn from Los Angeles Mission about lifting these people up from their afflictions and providing both physical and spiritual assistance to be able to make a meaningful change in their lives.
Transforming Lives Through Faith & Dignity
As of 2020, there are nearly 151,000 homeless people in Los Angeles, contributing a huge amount to the total homeless population of the United States. Homelessness may be caused by many things - chief of which is economic issues. Plenty of them also struggle with drug addiction. It’s a vicious cycle that breaks the spirit, and Vaughn explains that Los Angeles Mission doesn’t only work with homeless people by providing them food, shelter and financial assistance, but they also offer spiritual counseling to get to the root of their problems and help them heal.
