There are nearly 8 billion on the planet as of this year, but we only have one planet that we live on. Across the known universe, Earth is the only perfect candidate to support life. However, the way that we have been living - which is exploitative of the planet's resources and health -  is putting it in a steady decline. Conservation is sorely needed, and sustainability is a must. In this episode, we talk with Brett Jenks from Rare about keeping the Earth alive and healthy in order for us to keep on living on this one planet that we have. 

The Challenge Of Conservation

One of the challenges of conservation is the displacement of the people that reside there. The national park system of the US, for example, has caused some people to relocate. Rare recognizes that conservation cannot happen at the expense of culture and the way of living. Jenks explains that showing how to live sustainably with the land is a great way to encourage people to keep the Earth safe - giving them the means, even greater. Rare fosters relationships with the original communities to empower their means of living and conservation.
