Welcome to the Great year of 2019!
The smoke has cleared, fireworks have stopped ringing in our ears, and Santa has made it safely home to the North Pole. So, what happens now?
Well, at Great, the team is full of energy and excitement for the new year. We are working on a lot of projects in 2019, and we want to share it all with you!
This year, you will have the opportunity to see behind the scenes of Great. Like a reality show, you’ll be able to watch our meetings, and you’ll see the highs and lows of our organization. By sharing an honest look at the inner workings of our organization, we will be practicing what we like to call “Great Transparency.”
OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) was the topic of discussion during the first meeting of 2019. OKRs is a goal-setting strategy used by Google and other large companies to help individuals set goals that align with the organization’s key objectives. We tried implementing OKRs in 2018 but failed quite spectacularly. Will we be able to learn from our previous mistakes and succeed with OKRs this year? You’ll have to watch and see!
We also discuss setting wages for employees and strategies to help do that effectively. On the call, Erik gets quite emotional as he shares some of the previous challenges he faced setting salaries at Catena — something that caused him to lose close friends. How do we avoid these same challenges at Great?
