June Activities in Atlantic City
Sure, online casinos are fun, but now that many of the New Jersey’s social restrictions have been lifted, it’s time to get out and do something fun. Check out these June events around Atlantic City.
Anyone who lives in Atlantic City knows that there’s much more to do than just gamble. But with last year’s coronavirus restrictions, folks had to miss out on a lot of fun events and activities.
Now that the state’s restrictions have been lifted, you can look forward to more great Atlantic City events to more than make up for last year’s sad lack of fun.
Here’s a list of five upcoming Atlantic City activities to keep you busy this June.
June 4: Atlantic City Beer & Music Festival
The AC Beer Fest is back! There’s no better way to kick off summer at the Jersey Shore than with cold beers from more than 150 craft brewers, including New Jersey breweries like 13th Child, Axe and Arrow, Forgotten Boardwalk, and South 40 Brewing. You’ll also get to sample beers from breweries throughout the U.S., from California down to Florida.
The event is split into three “sessions” to help spread out the crowds (and give the vendors some time to breathe, no doubt!). Session 1 will be 8 p.m. to midnight on Friday, June 4. Then Session 2 will be 12-4 p.m. and Session 3 will be 6-10 p.m. on Saturday.
Beyond the beer, you can register for the Wing Wars, or sign your friends up for laser tag or giant cornhole. If you really want to get wild, you can enter the Beer Cup Derby or the Keg Toss. While you’re there, you can also see a variety of vendors selling their wares and food offerings from local spots like Chickie’s & Pete’s and Vagabond Kitchen & Tap House.
And, of course, there are the bands. Each session will feature different bands like Knuckle Puck, Less Than Jake, and Tie Goes To The Runner.
Tickets cost $65, for whichever Session you choose to attend. Everything is going down at Bader Field, 545 N. Albany Ave.
June 11: Celebrity Boxing: Lamar Odom vs. Aaron Carter
Celebrities will be duking it out once more for our entertainment during the Celebrity Boxing event, hosted by Ice-T and Coco.
The main events will include Love & Hip Hop franchise stars Cisco Rosado versus Peter Gunz, as well as former pro basketball player Lamar Odom fighting singer Aaron Carter. Former UFC heavyweight champ Chuck Liddell and another Love & Hip Hop star, Rich Dollaz, will appear as special guest referees.
The undercard will feature up to six Celebrity Boxing championship bouts. The first match will begin at 8 p.m., with the big events set to start at 9 p.m. The venue has noted that cards and appearances are subject to change, so keep an eye on their website as you get closer to the event date.
While VIP and ringside seating are already sold out, you can still get floor seating for $150 or the VIP Watch Party with a celebrity appearance (in a separate location at the casino) for $100. Everything is going down at the Showboat Hotel & Convention Center, located at 801 Boardwalk.
If you can’t make it to the event itself, it will be available on pay-per-view, so check out your local sports bars to see who will be showing the fight.
June 18: Mandy Moore
Singer-songwriter and actress Mandy Moore will take the stage at Borgata for a special event — her first major tour in more than a decade. While Moore came to national attention with her 1999 album So Real, she has stolen even more hearts with her acting, including her most recent role in the award-winning television series This Is Us.
Moore will share her classic music as well as her new songs, with fellow singer-songwriter Bedouine as the opening act.
Tickets cost $55 for reserved seating and $59 for Golden Circle seating. The evening starts at 7 p.m. at Borgata’s Music Box Theater, located at 1 Borgata Way.
June 18-19: The Black Excellence Festival
Atlantic City is playing host to the Black Excellence Festival, a two-day event filled with panels, workshops, films, comedy performances, parties, and more all during Juneteenth weekend.
The festival’s mission is to help build up the Black community by providing networking and educational opportunities at the festival. Speakers will include Dr. Varleton McDonald, Dr. Syleecia Thompson, and Tiana Von Johnson. The BE Film Festival and Short Film Showcase is for supporting and developing new, independent filmmaking talent.
There will also be a special pavilion for the BE Health segment, where there will be education, resources, and support for Black attendees to best care for their own health.
The special lectures and BE Film Festival are all free to attend, while other ticketed events range in price from $15 for the Entertainers Basketball Classic to $47.50-$75 for tickets to see Sugar Hill Gang vs. Mel Mel Scorpio.
The whole event will be taking place at the Showboat Hotel & Convention Center, at 801 Boardwalk.
June 26: Bungalow Beach Boardwalk Run 5 Miler
Enjoy the beach breeze with a great morning run with the Bungalow Beach Boardwalk Run. The run starts right on the boardwalk at Iowa Avenue, and you’ll be running along the boardwalk and streets of Atlantic City for all 5 miles. You’ll end with a 100-yard dash to the finish line right on the sand at Bungalow Beach.
You can register with your friends as a team or run the course solo. The event has staggered start times to help alleviate crowding: 8:30, 8:40, 8:50, and 9 a.m.
The top three overall male and female finishers will win awards, as will the top three male and female finishers in each age group. Race swag includes custom finisher medals, as well as tank tops for the women and T-shirts for the men.
Tickets are $60. Proceeds from ticket sales will go toward funding for the FACES 4 Autism program called Adaptive Swim Lessons. This is a specialized swimming program to provide swimming lessons to children with autism.
