A press release published by the FanDuel Group on March 8 announced that popular New Jersey online casino Betfair to become Stardust Casino some time in April, pending regulatory approval.

The rebranding is part of a joint effort between FanDuel Group and Boyd Gaming Corporation to bring back the iconic Las Vegas land-based casino as an online brand some 15 years after it closed back in 2006.

The move will also be a first for the New York Stock Exchange-listed Boyd Gaming, serving as their premier foray into the online casino marketplace of both New Jersey and Pennsylvania, with high hopes that one of the Strip’s most well-known brands of yesteryear will reignite passions and generate interest right from the launch.

“For nearly 50 years, the Stardust was one of the most famous casinos on the Las Vegas Strip,” said President and CEO of Boyd Gaming, Keith Smith. “And while the resort has been gone for more than a decade, the Stardust brand is still as well-known and popular as ever. We are excited to work with our partners at FanDuel to launch our first real-money online casinos and are confident this legendary brand will give us a significant advantage in connecting with players looking for a distinctive online gaming experience.”

The joint venture also presents FanDuel with the opportunity to expand and unify, creating a more solid brand across both jurisdictions.

“Stardust Casino allows us to take a market leading product to the next level,” said Amy Howe, President of FanDuel Group, “creating a unified platform across New Jersey and Pennsylvania and integrating Boyd Gaming’s B Connected player loyalty program to provide even more value to our customers.”

In New Jersey, the rebranding will involve an entirely new look and feel for the Betfair Casino site, with iOS and Android mobile apps also set to be available for gameplay on smartphones and tablets.

“The new Stardust Casino will retain all of the great games that customers love on Betfair Casino, while incorporating a stylish new look that captures the glitz, glamour, and nostalgia of old Las Vegas,” said Amy Howe.

What does this mean for existing players?

While the press release deals mostly with the business aspects of the partnership, many players will be left wondering how this affects them. Luckily, Betfair Casino has already thought of this and offers some answers on a specially dedicated FAQs page.

The upshot of it all is that the rebranding is set to take place some time in April, but for the most part, you will not need to do anything as the changes will happen automatically.

According to Betfair Casino, you will still be able to log in with your existing email address and password at the new Stardust Casino site. Any balance and responsible gaming limits you may have at the time of the rebranding will be transferred over to the new site, too.
