However, that should not be the case - citizens should be the one to determine who represents them. Goldstone explains that this can only be achieved through more accountable and accessible politics and governance - that everyday citizens should be able to make their voices heard in the political arena and have fair representation. Inclusivity is important to making these decisions, which is why Campaign Legal Center works on protecting Americans’ freedom to vote. Wealthy special interests should not be given sole authority to determine the outcome of political campaigns, so campaign finance reform should help to level the playing field.
