It’s also important to mention the number of 6 child victims per 1,000 residents. Child abuse comes in many forms, and about 13,000 children in Arizona currently reside in foster care. The reasons why these children are in the foster care system are many. But most are connected to domestic abuse.

Child abuse is a serious issue. The effects of child abuse are long-term and life-impacting. A child going through abuse is less likely to develop into a healthy teen and adult. The long-term effects can cause trauma, pain, and self-physical harm. That's why in today's episode, we talked with Atasha Hill, Community Engagement Specialist at Child Crisis Arizona.
Child Crisis Arizona is a nonprofit organization that protects children from abuse in hopes of creating strong and successful families. They have operated for more than 40 years in the Arizona area. They are dedicated to providing early education, emergency shelter, foster care and adoption, and counseling to affected children and families. Their mission is to end child abuse, and their vision is two words - safe kids.
Safe Kids, Strong Families
Child Crisis Arizona looks after the most vulnerable children. Children are the most vulnerable members of our society, so providing kids with a safe environment free from abuse is the objective.
Child Crisis Arizona has two emergency children's shelters for children ages 2 through 10. These shelters welcome children who've gone through abuse or neglect. They also help with foster care and adoption. They provide the knowledge, training, and certifications to become foster or adoptive parents. With dozens of additional services, Child Crisis Arizona hopes to provide children the life they would otherwise be denied.
