On top of this, the way we have created our energy systems revolves around money solutions for stakeholders rather than investments which support clean energy, consumers, or environmental concerns. In this episode, we spoke with Daniel Sosland from Acadia Center about their mission to transform the economics around environmental systems, ensuring decisions are aligned with positive climate goals.
Cleaner Air, Heavier Purse and a Clearer Conscience
By encouraging individuals, businesses and families to consider the long-term solutions of energy efficiency, not only do we save enormous amounts of wasted energy, but also reduce pollution and save money. Sosland explains how Acadia Center created programs with stakeholder boards so that regular people could contribute and develop the programs, meaning money was flowing in and energy-saving solutions were flowing out. Billions of dollars have already been saved by people making more informed decisions and not paying for energy that wasn’t needed. Resultantly, we have better quality buildings and homes, reduced pollution, a cleaner environment and less wasted money.
