Public Law Center Provides Free Civil Legal Services To Orange County Community

People throughout California are having trouble dealing with the law. Due to no fault of their own, but simply due to the circumstances they find themselves in, these people lack the finances to cover legal expenses. In today's episode, we talked with Leigh Ferrin, Director of Litigation and Pro Bono at Public Law Center.
Public Law Center is a nonprofit organization that offers legal services to Orange County. Orange County is home to more than 3 million people, of which not everyone is privileged to afford an attorney. Public Law Center works with 1,600 Orange County lawyers, paralegals, and law students to provide free legal services to more than 4,500 people each year. Leigh says that their work amounts to $60 million billable hours.
Offering Services to Challenge Societal Injustices
Public Law Center provides a wide range of services. Some of the services they offer include family law, domestic violence cases, societal injustices, civil rights, affordable housing & homelessness prevention, bankruptcy, and more.
The organization offers services to low-income residents to challenge societal injustices. They also work with law students to give them first-hand experience working with top attorneys on critical cases. So far, Public Law Center has been in the business of providing free legal services to Orange County for 35 years.
