Women in Distress Is Helping Families Affected By Domestic Violence Abuse

Not everyone understands the impact of domestic violence. The issue is so prominent in our society that it causes major psychological damage to victims. It often leaves them physically and mentally scarred for life, and it can often lead to developing trust issues with future partners intimately. Moreover, domestic violence comes in many forms. There's emotional abuse, verbal abuse, and even financial abuse. That's why in today's episode, we talked with Alisa Gonzalez, Education Specialist at Women in Distress of Broward County INC.
Women in Distress is a nonprofit organization that cares for domestic abuse victims. They are professionals that make it their mission to spread domestic violence awareness and stop domestic violence before it happens.
Helping Those Who Need it the Most
Women in Distress has helped countless families affected by domestic violence. In 2022 alone, they've helped 3,051 women, men, and children with domestic violence services. They've clocked 23,679 hours of advocacy, counseling, and therapy for victims, and provided shelter through their emergency shelter program for more than 27,000 nights. They also have 24 hr crisis hotline, meaning you can always call if you need any questions regarding their programs.
Women in Distress want to prevent domestic violence before it happens. With access to support groups and professional trainings for victims, they make sure everyone stays safe.
