Many mainstream movements towards a world devoid of meat consumption often position themselves against meat eaters and against blind consumption. Some organisations approach this polemic as a fight against corporations, or legislation, or very well the individuals consuming meat themselves. In this episode, we spoke with Isis Bruyère from L214 Ethique & Animaux about how a fight towards a more just world requires compromise and finding common ground; for them, this means fair treatment of animals and the upholding of French legal code. 

“Show the reality; Demonstrate the negative impact; Broaden the debate”

French cuisine, traditionally renowned for butter, creme and meat, is no different from culinary tradition across the world. Recipes have developed through necessity and circumstance, only to be passed down intergenerationally. Dialing down the lens of consumption means uprooting culture for some, and progress for others. Isis Bruyère explains that the French public is open to change, and new innovations in meat alternatives are indicative of a bright and exciting future; though there is much work to be done.
