They are a nonprofit organization that champions walkable urbanism. They look to challenge the flawed urbanist principles and bring changes that benefit businesses and residents. Their three main goals are to legalize walkable places, diversify neighborhoods, and design neighborhoods for climate change.
Setting the Framework For Protecting the Places We Love
Congress For the New Urbanism operates globally and has more than 2600 members worldwide. The nonprofit is made out of small communities that focus on design, development, policy implementation, and activism.
Their ultimate objective is to set the framework for protecting the places we love and designing cities around humans. With walkable neighborhoods, Congress For the New Urbanism wants to set in place the new urbanist principles that will benefit everyone. Some within the organization call it tactical urbanism since it requires a lot of planning, innovation, and advocacy to make even the slightest change.
