Food Bank For Larimer County Makes A Real Impact In Feeding Those In Need

In Colorado, more than 500,000 people are facing hunger. More than 147,000 children fail to meet their daily nutritional needs. This is a problem that impacts Colorado greatly. The state isn't a big food manufacturer, so hunger relief programs are necessary to feed those in need. In today's episode, we talked with Josh Greene, Operations Director at Food Bank For Larimer County.
Providing Meals To The Larimer County Community
They are a nonprofit organization with three community partnership food programs, the Nourishing Network, the Fresh Food Share, and Nutritious Kitchen. The organization's goal is to provide meals to the Larimer County community. Through these programs, Food Bank For Larimer County serves more than 8 million meals annually. They plan to reach 12.2 million meals by 2035. So far, they've served 37,500 individuals with 3.6 million pounds of fresh food.
They operate by partnering with food banks and government programs. Through various community partnerships, the organization plans to make Larimer County hunger-free.
