Hunger is a big issue in Kansas and Missouri, from rural areas to suburban neighborhoods. Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, food insecurities in the region were at an all-time high. Now, the issue is even more alarming and closely impacting every household. That's why in today's episode, we talked with Kera Mashek, Special Projects Content Manager at Harvesters.

Harvesters is a nonprofit organization that is feeding America through food distribution. In the US, millions of households desperately need help, and the organization has so far distributed 67 million meals.

Food Assistance for Everyone

Anyone can get food assistance through the organization. The organization works with pantries, drive-through food pickups, and local kitchens to deliver meals to hungry Americans. The goal of these sites is to save lives and end hunger. Through joint cooperation, Harvesters makes it possible to support local communities in desperate need of help.

Another way Harvesters helps tackle food insecurities is through meals for kids and snap assistance. You can sign up for their snap assistance program to address hunger in your household. In addition, their meals for kids program aims to provide free nutritious food to kids at schools, libraries, and other community spaces. Also, they provide nutrition education to many communities.
