NPower Teaches Veterans and Low Income Individuals Tech Skills To Land High-Paying Jobs

Whether you're an infantryman or a combat medic, anyone can learn the tech skills to work at some of the biggest tech companies in the world, like Google. But everyone needs a little push to start somewhere. In today's episode, we talked with Christopher Starling from NPower.
NPower is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to take veterans and people in poverty to the middle class and help them find a new career in just 23 weeks. They do this by creating a tech training program that gives these individuals the tools and means to become IT professionals.
Creating Tech Training Programs
Christopher says that their tech training class has an 85% success rate. Their tech programs run across seven states and help individuals transform their lives. NPower's model helps tech businesses fill up tech roles with quality workers. Their model works very simply. Each person who applies for their programs goes through training to obtain IT certification and improve their lives.
NPower offers individuals access to several programs, such as tech fundamentals, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and IT support specialist. Christopher says that 31% of their talent is women, 40% veterans, and 76% of them are African-American/Latinx.
Christopher also says that NPower graduates get hired as technical support analysts, network engineers, field technicians, CRM administrators, and more. Their program also helps individuals with basic, soft skills such as setting up a LinkedIn profile, practicing interviews, managing finances, and more - all important skills necessary for their new career.
