37 Restaurants Extend AC Restaurant Week Offerings

Atlantic City Restaurant Week has officially come and gone, but a number of area restaurants are extending their special menus to next week. Out of the 59 eateries that participated in Restaurant Week, 37 are still offering their prix-fixe lunch and dinner menus:

Sponsored by the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority, the 13th annual Atlantic City Restaurant Week, Oct. 3-8, featured close to 60 of the area’s favorite and finest dining establishments offering value-priced three-course lunches at $15.21 per person and three-course dinners at $35.21 (tax, gratuity and beverage extra).

AC Casinos Light Up Pink for Breast Cancer

The Casino Association of New Jersey is commemorating October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month by lighting up the Atlantic City skyline with pink lights throughout the month. In addition to lighting up the city with pink, various Atlantic City casinos will participate in a range of events to support further breast cancer research, including Golden Nugget Atlantic City:

Golden Nugget Atlantic City has more than dozen men participating in the Real Men Wear Pink Campaign to raise awareness and money for the American Cancer Society’s breast cancer initiatives, including innovative research, patient services, and education around screenings and risk reduction.

Golden Nugget is featuring $10 Pink Drinks from October 1-31, in multiple restaurants and bars with $1 of each drink going back to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

Caesars, Harrah’s Resort, and Tropicana will be partnering with Tito’s vodka to donate $1 for every Tito’s cocktail sold. At Tropicana, drinks sold at Boogie Nights, 10 North, Chelsea Five Gastropub, and Tango’s throughout the month will be going towards this cause. At Caesars, participating outlets include Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill and Nero’s Italian Steakhouse.

New AC ShopRite To Pay Only $1 a Year

The plan to transform Atlantic City away from being a food desert continues. The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority said during a public hearing on Oct. 6 that they’ll allow Village Supermarket Inc. to lease the land for a ShopRite supermarket for just $1 per year. Representatives for Village Supermarket Inc. said that public funding was necessary for the entire project to happen, and the CRDA says that the current agreement is favorable to the city overall:

CRDA plans to put $18.7 million into the project and retain ownership of the building and the interior. The supermarket chain will own the groceries and fund the operation of the store.

But in this case, it will be the CRDA funding the construction. [CRDA executive director Matt] Doherty presented that as a positive for Atlantic City.

“The building and the property will remain the property of the CRDA,” he said. He cited another CRDA project, Renaissance Plaza, which he indicated has not been well maintained, saying the authority has no control over the maintenance.
