NJ Online Slot of the Week: Invaders from the Planet Moolah

Share this:

Looking for some reel-based light relief to round off the working week? Take a look under the hood of our Slot of the Week, Invaders from the Planet Moolah, to find out why it’s a top-ranking game for New Jersey players.

Offering a quirky theme, cascading wins, and up to 50 re-triggerable free spins in the game’s main feature, top New Jersey online slot Invaders from the Planet Moolah has comedy capers written all over it, but will it be enough to tickle your funny bone? Read on to find out.

In Short:

  • Invaders from the Planet Moolah is a 25-payline online slot by WMS
  • It is available to play at 17 New Jersey online casinos including Golden Nugget, Virgin Casino, SugarHouse, and Unibet Casino
  • Unique features include a quirky theme and cascading wins
  • The maximum payout of Invaders from the Planet Moolah is 3,750x line bet

The Basics

Invaders from the Planet Moolah is a comical 25-payline, 5-reel slot by developers WMS (now owned by Scientific Games). Launched in July 2013, the slot has been around for some time, with its simple yet entertaining setup earning it a reputation for offering easy, enjoyable gaming, particularly with New Jersey players.

Based on the bizarre premise of bovine invaders from space, this slot’s theme is nothing if not utterly unique, featuring a peculiar mashup of spaceships and country farming. Add to that this game’s few but engaging features and you’ve got the perfect setup for a weird and wonderful winning experience!

First Impressions

When Invaders from the Planet Moolah first starts, you’ll find yourself looking out into space, with three different planets set against a greenish star-spattered background. The reel set itself is framed in gold piping with each corner adorned with rings reminiscent of every futuristic appliance in the Jetsons. Against the reel set’s thankfully Earthy sky blue background you’ll find an array of farm-related symbols, the matching of which along any of the game’s 25 paylines will result in wins.

Above each of the slot’s five reels, you’ll see a cow in a hovering spaceship. These guys will prove the value of their presence the moment you land a winning line, as we’ll see shortly. Along the left side of the reels, you’ll also notice a vertical line of three cow spaceships followed by increasing numbers. These are related to the game’s free spins feature, the details of which we’ll get into below.

In terms of sounds, you’ll be pleased to know you won’t be blasted with an irritating soundtrack while playing this slot as it doesn’t have one (at least not in the base game). Instead, and rather fittingly, you’ll hear a bizarre mix of pops, whirrs, blips, and hums that have become somewhat synonymous with space. Hitting that spin button triggers an emission of similar cosmic sounds as each of the reels comes to rest.

Trigger the free spins feature, however, and the sound effects will be turned up a notch, starting with an invasion siren and following with a dramatic soundtrack that feels a bit like the approach of Jaws!

Symbols

This game’s space and farm mashup theme is largely presented by the various symbols that you’re tasked with matching along any of the 25 paylines. These can be split into low, medium, and high-paying symbols based on what you can expect to win for matching three or more of them.

The top tier consists of the cow spaceship Jackpot symbol, which is the highest value symbol in the game, and the dog, Grandpa, Grandma, Cowgirl, and Man symbols, which pay in any combination.

Next up you have the medium-paying symbols of the familiar farmyard barn complete with grain silo, another stereotype in the trailer, and the gold old study green truck.

At the lower end of the spectrum, you’ll find chickens, milk, a mailbox, and, funnily enough, the outhouse as the game’s minimally paying symbols.

This slot’s wild symbols come in the form of three different cows: white and brown, brown, and white and black. You’ll find these symbols appearing on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5, sometimes stacked, serving as a substitute for all other symbols to help you make up those winning lines.

Invaders from the Planet Moolah Features

Aside from the substituting power of those cow wild symbols, Invaders from the Planet Moolah has two main features to look out for. Let’s take a look at each of these, in turn, to see how they spice up the gameplay.

Cascades

One spin of the reels reveals that they are not in fact reels at all. Instead of symbols spinning into view as is the case in other slot games, symbols fall into place from above, and it’s this mechanism that forms part of the unique cascades feature.

Each time you land a winning line, the cows in their spaceships above the reels will zap involved symbols out of existence, leaving gaps on the reels. Any symbols above will fall into these empty spaces, with additional symbols appearing from above to fill the reels once again.

This could result in another winning line, giving you the potential for a chain reaction of wins from a single spin!

Free Spins

Remember that column of spaceships and increasing numbers to the left of the reels that we mentioned earlier? For each cascade, you trigger during a single spin, another notch on that column will be highlighted. Landing four or more cascades in a single spin unlocks the game’s free spins feature, with free spins awarded as follows:

  • 4 cascades: 7 free spins
  • 5 cascades: 10 free spins
  • 6 cascades: 15 free spins
  • 7 cascades: 25 free spins
  • 8 or more cascades: 50 free spins

What’s great about this free spins feature is you can trigger additional free spins by getting enough consecutive cascades again during the feature. Even better, you also stand a chance of triggering the feature again from within after any non-winning free spin completely at random!

Invaders from the Planet Moolah Payouts

So what can expect to win for lining up symbols in Invaders from the Planet Moolah? As mentioned before, the various symbols payout depending on their value and how many of them you’ve managed to line up along one of the game’s 25 paylines, but your payout also depends on your bet per line.

Here are the various payout multipliers for each of the game’s symbols:

Symbol 3x 4x 5x
Jackpot 30x line bet 150x line bet 750x line bet
Dog/Grandpa/Grandma/Cowgirl/Man 25x line bet 100x line bet 500x line bet
Barn 20x line bet 50x line bet 250x line bet
Trailer 15x line bet 40x line bet 200x line bet
Truck 10x line bet 30x line bet 150x line bet
Chickens/Milk 5x line bet 20x line bet 100x line bet
Mailbox/Outhouse 5x line bet 20x line bet 80x line bet

Remember those cascades will push your payouts even higher without the extra cost of additional spins, and especially so during the free spins feature!

Invaders from the Planet Moolah RTP and Volatility

How does this game compare to other online slots in terms of payout amounts and frequency? The best metrics for comparison purposes are the often-used industry standards of Return to Player (RTP) and Volatility (or Variance).

RTP is the percentage of money paid into a slot that is expected to be paid out to players in the long run. It’s basically the opposite of the house edge, which is the cut that online casinos take. When it comes to Invaders from the Planet Moolah, the developers have the theoretical RTP of the game pegged at 96%, which is about average for the industry.

Volatility, on the other hand, is the balance of small, frequent wins versus larger, less frequent wins that a game is expected to exhibit over time. Invaders from the Planet Moolah has a volatility rating of Low to Medium, which means most of the wins will be relatively small but frequent, making it a great choice for beginners.

Ready for a Moolah Invasion?

Invaders from the Planet Moolah is a funny little slot game with a unique and quirky mashup theme that you’ll find either tiresome and tacky or utterly hilarious. We think it provides some much needed comic relief, making it a great choice for a bit of after-work entertainment as a way of de-stressing and sloughing off the day’s dramas.

The developers have done a good job of finding the perfect balance between boredom and overwhelm, offering just enough features to keep you engaged without over-blinging and risking frustration or bewilderment. We love watching the various other-wordly effects of the different cows in their spaceships as they zap away winning symbols to trigger cascades!

If you’re keen to give this game a go, you’ll find it at most of the top New Jersey online casinos including Golden Nugget, Virgin Casino, SugarHouse, and Unibet Casino.
