For many countries across Africa, Asia and Latin America - widespread poverty, conflict and natural disasters mean that access to healthcare resources is extremely limited. In this episode, we spoke with Dr. Douglas Jackson from Project C.U.R.E. about their volunteer-fueled work which collects and delivers medical supplies and provides training for healthcare workers in resource-limited countries. 

Supporting Those in Need, No Matter the Place 

The absence of medical supplies is a serious and widespread issue throughout the world; only intensified by the current pandemic. Many countries hit crises unexpectedly and thus the demand for organizations such as Project C.U.R.E. has grown rapidly, their supply adapting to meet new unprecedented needs. On top of emergency relief, they offer training programs led by healthcare professionals - providing long-term sustainable solutions through the transfer of medical knowledge and expertise. 

Project C.U.R.E. approaches medical suppliers, manufacturers and hospitals to receive ‘everything from catheters to CAT scans, beds and exam tables to ultrasound needles’. They gather the donations and transport them in cargo containers - shipping on average 200 every year to places in need.
