Every year, millions of stray animals are taken into shelters, providing some relief from homelessness. But not all of these struggling souls find homes or receive appropriate care before they are taken in. In this episode, we talked with Ana Rodriguez from Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP), a non-profit that shelters, rescues, and finds forever families for these once-stray animals.

Strays No More

In the US alone, an estimated 3.3 million dogs and 3.2 million cats enter shelters every year. There is no shortage of results if one looks up “pet shelters near me” however, they are mostly full with animals that are scarred by their experiences of homelessness. Some of these abandoned pets are victims of cruelty, or coming from owners who can no longer care for them, and often require medical assistance. Ana Rodriguez explains how a little love goes a long way for these animals and is instrumental in getting them to adopters that would take them in wholeheartedly.
