How Neighbors in Illinois Are Coming Together to Address Inequity

The current pandemic has added multiple extra strains onto communities which were already strife with injustice and inequity. On a positive note, though, we have seen new and unprecedented levels of collaboration within the past year, with people and communities coming together to support each other in crucial and heart-warming ways. In this episode, we spoke with Jenifer Fabian from People’s Resource Center (PRC) about the importance of mutual support amongst communities, as a way to address local needs and become stronger together. 

Providing a Space for People to Give and Receive Generously 

With a network of more than 2,600 volunteers, PRC are able to reach 26,000 residents of DuPage County (Illinois), offering food and other basic necessities such as clothes, financial assistance and social services. They have gone to great lengths to continue supporting those in need during COVID-19, having moved all of their educational programs online and fostering extra support to meet the increased issue of food security. Jennifer Fabian explains that PRC are continuing to respond to these increasing needs of food and shelter, utilizing their strong team of staff and volunteers to create a caring and hopeful community for all.
