Over two billion people have poor vision. Most of them would notice drastic improvements after essential medical intervention. In this episode we talked with Imran Khan from Sightsavers about stopping preventable sight loss.
Simple Cures to Big Problems
With untreated poor vision, many children struggle to keep up in school. This puts them at a huge disadvantage as they grow up. Sightsavers works with local governments in sub-Saharan Africa and parts of Asia to improve the lives of those without access to eye exams, glasses or surgery. They also offer interventions to treat tropical diseases. Imran explains how much of Sightsavers’ work involves school visits, during which they deliver multiple treatments at once - worming pills with spectacles, for instance.
