When a child suffers from critical illness or injury, immediate care is needed to make sure that that illness or injury is properly addressed. Parents drop everything to care for their children - and sometimes, “immediate care” is not anywhere near home. In this episode, we talk with Kelly Dolan from Ronald McDonald House Charities about providing families with children suffering with illness “compassionate care” and much needed help.
Compassionate Care For Children & Their Families
Caring for a child that is sick is not an easy task - more so if your child needs to be treated somewhere far away, as medical services are not equal in availability, even in a country like the US. To help facilitate the wellbeing and recovery of a child, the presence of their parents is absolutely necessary. Dolan explains that Ronald McDonald Housing Charities has three programs to aid these families in need - two of which provide a home for parents to stay near their children’s hospitals, called the Ronald McDonald Family Room & the Ronald McDonald House. Another program brings healthcare to families through the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, providing primary treatment, diagnosis, and treatment referrals for children, to name a few.
