As of February 1, 2022, MGM Resorts officially launched its revamped casino rewards program, MGM Rewards. This program used to be called M Life, and the company has kept many of the same rules and perks that you used to get as an M Life member. However, the jury is still out as to whether the MGM Rewards program is actually an improvement on M Life.

What Do You Get With MGM Rewards?
Like other casino rewards programs, you can join MGM Rewards and get perks like:

The biggest changes to MGM’s loyalty program is that MGM Rewards has more appeal to non-gamer MGM fans. MGM Rewards allows people who don’t need all the casino perks to earn points by doing what they love: shopping, dining, and enjoying the fantastic non-gambling entertainment at the resort. That means you have even more ways to earn loyalty points and tier credits to get more out of your membership.
Another big change is MGM’s partnership with Hyatt and their World of Hyatt rewards program. You can earn Hyatt travel accommodation perks through MGM Rewards to have a great stay at many other locations, not just MGM Resorts properties.
However, these changes come with a cost to casino fanatics. You now have to earn more tier credits to level up your membership and get access to the program’s best benefits. That means you have to gamble more money to earn tier credits and reach a new status or maintain your current one.
How Do You Earn Points in the MGM Rewards Program?
You can earn points just by using your MGM Rewards member account when you shop, dine, play, or stay at an MGM Resorts location. For example, you’d insert your MGM Rewards membership card into the slot machine while you play and present your MGM Rewards card when paying for dinner at Borgata in Atlantic City. You can enter your MGM Rewards member number when booking a stay at Borgata or MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
For every dollar you spend, you earn a certain number of loyalty points and tier credits. The number of points you earn per dollar can depend on your current membership level. It can also depend on the amount of each wager you make while playing your favorite casino games, such as blackjack.
You can earn even more as an MGM Rewards member when you sign up for an MGM Rewards Mastercard credit card. You can earn:
- 3x points and tier credits when you use it to pay for dining, shopping, entertainment, and more at any MGM Resorts property
- 2x points and tier credits when you use the credit card at gas stations and grocery stores
- 1x points and tier credits on everything else

Can You Earn MGM Rewards Points for Online Casino Play?
Yes, you can earn reward points and tier credits for wagers at BetMGM Casino and Sportsbook. You’re automatically enrolled in a BetMGM Rewards account when you sign up to play your favorite online casino games at BetMGM New Jersey. For every qualifying wager, you earn rewards points you can cash in for free play credits and other online casino perks. You also gain tier credits to level up your membership and earn even more.
What’s more, you’re automatically enrolled in the MGM Rewards program when you join the BetMGM Rewards program, so you earn points and tier credits for in-person perks, too.
Tiers in the MGM Rewards Program
The MGM Rewards program has five total tiers for which you can qualify based on your spending at MGM Resorts properties and online gaming sites, like Borgata Online and BetMGM. You earn points for a given year from January 1 through December 31. The number of Tier Credits you earned the previous year determine your Tier Level when a new year starts.
All accrued points expire at the end of each year, so if you don’t spend them, you lose out on cashing in on additional perks.
Every loyalty tier comes with its own unique perks, and as you level up, you get all the perks of the previous level and the special ones that come with the new status. Some of the perks for each MGM Rewards program loyalty status include:

You can sign up for the MGM Rewards program using one of the following methods:
- Online at the MGM Resorts website
- In-person at an MGM Resorts property, like Borgata in Atlantic City
- Through your current MGM or Borgata online casino account
If you’re already enrolled in BetMGM Rewards, the online casino’s rewards program, then you’re already an MGM Rewards member. The same goes for the Borgata Online Rewards program, too. But it can’t hurt to check your status online through your NJ online casino account.
