A Story of Hope for Conservation in Africa
Aside from the elephant and rhino populations, African Conservation Trust plays a crucial role in the conservation of the African wild dog. These dogs are one of the most endangered carnivores in Africa, with an estimated population of just around 6,600. African Conservation Trust works with local communities to create education programs and ensure that these dogs are protected. Through fostering a connection between communities and their wildlife, African Conservation Trust aims to facilitate change in perceptions of conservation.
African Conservation Trust's "Rhinos Without Borders" program was initiated to protect the dwindling rhino population. The organization moved 100 rhinos to different locations in Botswana to protect them from poachers and to increase the rhino population in a safer location. This was an incredible feat that African Conservation Trust achieved with the help of other stakeholders in the conservation industry.
Aside from its work with rhinos and elephants, African Conservation Trust is also involved in conservation efforts of marine wildlife. The organization's "Ocean's Alive" program aims to promote marine conservation by encouraging sustainable marine practices and was born to address the challenges of marine waste pollution in Mozambique.
