More serious cases of Fragile x syndrome result in a complete shutdown of verbal communication. In today's episode, we talked with Jennifer Frobish from FRAXA Research Foundation. They're a nonprofit organization collecting feedback on Fragile x syndrome.
Making a Difference Through Research Efforts
FRAXA's mission is to find treatments for Fragile X syndrome and raise money for the cause. Their ultimate goal is to find a cure for Fragile X. Jeniffer says that FRAXA is one out of many nonprofit organizations struggling to fund Fragile x research. Because of this, FRAXA is mostly operating on a shoestring budget. They're part of a research community of doctors from all corners of the world looking into Fragile x syndrome. Fragile X research is very limited, and FRAXA is making a big difference through its research efforts.
They have moved research forward in 19 countries, with a total investment of $32 million. FRAXA Research Foundation also provides support to family members of affected children and hope to strengthen relationships with more.
FRAXA is a highly efficient organization that actively supports the Fragile x community. They help people affected by Fragile x by providing additional resources around medication. The Fragile x community is closely tied and provides honest feedback for Fragile x and related disorders.
FRAXA Research Foundation has four ongoing clinical trials and studies, 41 research teams, and more than 600 research grants awarded.
