The Kansas City area recorded 44,000 domestic violence hotline calls in 2021. In addition, the domestic violence rate among women in the US is one in three. That means one woman in three will experience some form of domestic violence in their lifetime. The statistics for men are also no different. It is estimated that one in four men experience some form of physical violence by an intimate partner.
Hope House works in the Kansas City area to break the cycle of domestic violence by providing safe refuge and supportive services that educate and empower those impacted by domestic violence.

Many victims of domestic violence feel ashamed or too scared to ask for help. The impact of being abused has physical and psychological consequences. Victims are so scared to talk that they even remain silent about it to their family members. But victims of abuse must get the information necessary to protect themselves and those they love the most. That's why in today's episode, we talked with MaryAnne Metheny, CEO of Hope House.
Hope House is a nonprofit organization that fights for women, men, and children impacted by domestic violence. They are dedicated to making sure everyone can find safe refuge from their abuser and find the freedom to start again. They help victims and their families get the necessary support to live a life free of abuse.
Getting the Help Needed
Hope House helps domestic violence victims in three ways. They provide shelter for adults and children, therapy, and outreach by working with law enforcement agencies. These programs help save lives and rehabilitate victims. With eight+ therapy programs, several shelter locations, and six outreach programs, they make sure the Kansas City area is safer for everyone.
