International Human Rights : To Be Upheld & Fought For

It’s no secret that many of us living on this planet live in abject conditions. Besides abuse and neglect, there are some that are even more unfortunate - some individuals being subjected to persecution, torture and violence. Extrajudicial executions and political imprisonments, as well as slavery still happen in many different countries across the world. In her work with Human Rights First, Gilbert works with asylum seekers persecuted by their governments, and argues that it is our duty as human beings to uphold the standards of human rights - to hold our governments accountable, to uphold our freedoms. Lasting change through the law to uphold human rights to the highest standard is extremely important, and one of the ways to do that is to leave violent and barbaric practices to history.
