The Green New Deal (GND) proposals seek to get the world to net-zero emissions by 2050. It calls for public policy to address climate change as an urgently pressing issue, alongside battling economic inequality and creating more sustainable jobs. Mazon explains how Sunrise Movement are working towards the goals set out by the GND; by targeting democratic politicians and pressuring the Biden Administration to deliver on their plans for clean energy infrastructure. The prominent challenge that America faces on a national level is the cynicism surrounding the solutions to this gigantic issue. Sunrise Movement’s main focus is to create solidarity through action groups and information sharing; encouraging the government to take action to reverse the devastating effects of climate change.
