We can solve many of the wildlife and environmental issues Virginia animals face through teaching and education. In addition, education is the only way to improve animal conditions around these parts and improve the quality of life of animals in natural habitats. That's why in today's episode, we talked with Ed Clark, President and Co-Founder of Wildlife Center of Virginia.
Wildlife Center of Virginia is a nonprofit conservation organization that cares for Virginia animals. They've been around for 40 years, treating more than 85,000 wild animals across 200 species of native birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians.
The organization's mission is to provide quality healthcare, often on an emergency basis, to native wildlife in Virginia. Thanks to the wildlife rehabilitators working at the Wildlife Center, the organization offers wildlife emergency services.
Training Wildlife Medicine practitioners
The organization also trains wildlife medicine practitioners and welcomes veterinary students from over 40 countries. Some of the wildlife medicine practitioners the organization trains include veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and volunteer wildlife rehabilitators.
Thanks to the organization's education methods, they are able to train professionals and offer training programs to any veterinary student. Most of those who have benefited from the education center now work on cutting-edge wildlife medicine. The ultimate goal of the Wildlife Center of Virginia is to offer world-class wildlife medicine to Virginia wildlife.
