Everyday there are about 6,000 homeless individuals in Maricopa county. Some would even have to go looking for food in dumpsters and stay in places where no human being should live in. Lacking resources to make a positive change in their lives, homelessness becomes an incredibly difficult situation to break free from. In this episode, we talk with Nathan Smith from Phoenix Rescue Mission about providing help in the form of food and shelter to the homeless.
Relief For The Homeless: Food, Shelter And Recovery
Homelessness does not happen in a vacuum. People who suffer through trauma and addiction are unable to find any meaningful employment or financing, and it creates a cycle of inadequacy in securing themselves a place to live and three square meals a day. With the odds stacked against them, it is nearly impossible to exit homelessness. Smith explains that with a little bit of guidance and assistance, many can rise from their conditions and live their lives to the fullest once more - something that Phoenix Rescue Mission offers with their food banks, a 12-month addiction recovery program and shelter for the homeless.
