Youth Empowerment & Support Services (YESS) navigates the complex challenges facing homeless and traumatized youth, offering them a loving infrastructure and resources to help them build a better future. Today we talk with Margo Long, President and CEO of Youth Empowerment and Support Services (YESS), about their initiatives and how they work toward a common goal of transforming communities.
Providing support, care and creating relationships
Founded over 40 years ago, YESS has been a beacon of hope in Edmonton. The nonprofit's continuum of services addresses the immediate and long-term needs of young people aged 15–24 who are in crisis. From emergency shelter to supportive housing, from trauma recovery to life skills training, YESS's array of programs aims to heal, educate, and empower.
Such dedication has uplifted countless lives, with success stories that resonate across communities. These narratives aren't merely testaments to resilience—they are a source of inspiration and a call to action. Each endeavor, whether it's initiating the Nexus program to build sustainable futures or providing a welcoming space at the Armoury Resource Centre, YESS reshapes lives every day.
