The energy sector isn't the only sector needing a green, sustainable revolution. The need to make the federal government more green is one way to escape the inevitable disaster our world is thrown into. But the biggest issue is indeed the legacy energy system. It is estimated that 20% of the poorest Americans pay for most electricity. The need for change is why, in today’s episode, we talked with Amal Bennet-Judge, Marketing & Communications Consultant of Groundswell.
The Sun's Energy is Plenty
Groundswell is a nonprofit organization that believes that the sun's energy is plenty and enough to sustain the world's energy needs. However, the problem with solar energy is that it is expensive and exclusive only to those who can afford the equipment. That's why they allow communities to purchase energy from a local community solar project.
Groundswell also believes in the idea of clean energy projects that reduce energy burdens for the poorest American households. They encourage pioneering research and lead research projects in five states. Groundswell serves more than 5,500 customers with clean energy, helping save $2.75 million for the income-qualified selected customers.
