William Hill NJ online casino finished our New Jersey welcome bonus test in 19th place with an Actual Bonus Value of $24.33. William Hill is one of four casinos with a rebate bonus for its first deposit promo. Unfortunately, they do not have a no deposit bonus, so their welcome bonus package consist only of a 100% cashback bonus up to $50. When put into our ABV formula, this promotion ends up with a $24.33 ABV which is 55% less than the NJ state average welcome bonus value of $52.26.
1. Harrah’s Casino ($100.19 ABV)
19. William Hill Casino ($24.33ABV)
NJ State Average ($52.26 ABV)
William Hill NJ online casino promotes its welcome bonus with a 5-day cashback bonus up to $50.
- Rebate bonus is valid up to $50 on your first deposit.
- Cashback bonus is only eligible within 5 days from the first deposit.
- Rebate is in the form of credits which cannot be withdrawn — only played at William Hill.
- Only casino bets are eligible for this promotion.
- You can read the full William Hill welcome bonus and promo terms and conditions here.
William Hill NJ online casino does not require a promotional code to take advantage of its 100% cashback bonus up to $50. Simply create an account at William Hill and make a deposit. You will then have five (5) days to wager and any net losses up to $50 will be credited back to your account.
Measuring the value of a casino bonus is no easy matter. You have the sales language the casino puts on their website like “We’ll match your first deposit up to $1,000!” and then you have the reality of what that actually means — most of the time, not as glamourous.
Then, you have to try to compare that bonus with another casino’s welcome bonus which may be a rebate offer (like William Hill) or may have free play credits included in the offer. In other words, it’s hard for someone to grasp the actual value of a casino bonus and even harder to compare said value with any other offer out there.
That’s where we came in. We created a formula that helps people compare the value of online casino bonuses. We call this the Actual Bonus Value (ABV) and it creates a standard on which to measure and compare casino bonuses.
We used this measurement to compare the welcome bonuses for all 24 legal online casinos in New Jersey. What we discovered afterwards was a huge variance between good and bad casino offers. Unfortunately, William Hill fell near the bottom of our rankings for welcome bonus value.
Their rebate offer of up to $50 has a maximum value in our analysis of $24.33 which was good for 19th place. This offer is $28.99 less than the NJ state average welcome bonus value of $52.26. William Hill’s welcome bonus, while not overly impressive, is still better than 5 other NJ online casinos including PokerStars and BetAmerica.
Below shows the 3 online casinos that finished above William Hill and the 3 online casinos that finished below them in our NJ online casino welcome bonus test.
16. Hard Rock (ABV $44.57)
17. Bet365 (ABV $44.57)
18. Ocean (ABV $43.28)
19. William Hill (ABV $24.33)
20. PokerStars (ABV $20.86)
21. BetAmerica (ABV $16.69)
22. DraftKings (ABV $0.00)
Only four (4) NJ online casinos offered cashback bonuses or rebate promotions in their welcome bonus package. This type of bonus refunds you for net losses during the bonus window.
For example, if you bet $100 in available wagers within William Hill’s cashback welcome bonus and won $60 back, your net loss would be $40, and you would receive a $40 credit to your account.
Therefore, the best way to maximize the value of this type of promotion is to deposit the amount they’ll cover and then bet your entire bankroll immediately. Time is money, and you can very quickly grow your bankroll or exercise the rebate offer — especially considering the 5-day window for William Hill’s promo.
Fortunately, William Hill’s cashback bonus doesn’t have too many restrictions. As long as you’re playing a casino game and not sports betting, you’re eligible for the rebate promo. Our advised strategy is to find a high return-to-player game that accepts a large enough wager to meet the maximum amount the casino will refund ($50).
This typically means betting either red or black on European Roulette which has a roughly 48% chance of hitting. By betting $50 on one of these colors, you can either double your bankroll or immediately hit your rebate requirement.
You can continue to play this high-risk level as long as you feel comfortable to maximize your return. As long as you only deposit the maximum amount they’ll give you within the cashback promotion ($50), you’ll be able to cover all your net losses through the rebate.
Our Actual Bonus Value (ABV) looks at the important metrics within a bonus’s terms and conditions which might dictate its literal value. For example, a $1,000 match bonus is not a free $1,000 — it’s baked into some required betting thresholds like a 20x playthrough or 14-day expiry window. That 20x playthrough makes you bet that free $1,000 20 times over or $20,000 in total wagers before you satisfy the casino’s requirements.
In other words, the casino bonus is rarely what you think it is. This principle is important because it reveals the need for a metric like our ABV.
When calculating ABV for welcome bonuses, we look at the actual value of first and no deposit bonuses. We also apply the strategy of playing the safest game eligible — which usually is Blood Suckers at 98% RTP.
However, William Hill doesn’t have a typical match bonus with wagering requirements. Instead, it uses a rebate promotion or cashback bonus which follows a different strategy. For cashback bonuses, we use the approach outlined above and wager the entire rebate amount on a bet that is as close to 50% odds as possible with the biggest payout.
In our formula, this meant betting on red or black in European Roulette. There are 37 options on the European Roulette wheel with 1 being a green 0. The other 36 are either red (18) or black (18). If you bet red or black you have a 48.65% chance of winning, which means there is a 51.35% chance of losing it. We took all this information and plugged it into the following formula to arrive at William Hill’s welcome bonus ABV.
Bet $50 * (18/37) = $24.33
If you deposited $50 and took full advantage of William Hills rebate promotion (which cannot be withdrawn), you stand to recognize approximately $24.33 in value.
William Hill NJ Online Casino No Deposit Bonus
William Hill’s New Jersey online casino finished our no deposit bonus test with an Actual Bonus Value (ABV) of $0.00 because they did not have an active no deposit bonus at the time of our test. This score tied with 16 other casinos for the worst no deposit bonus in New Jersey. The average no deposit bonus value for NJ online casinos was $4.14, so William Hill fell well below that bar.
For complete test results and an outline of our process, visit our New Jersey online casino no bonus test results.
A no deposit bonus allows you to gamble for real money at an online casino without wagering any of your own. It’s a great promotion technique to attract new players to a casino and gives incentive to sign-up. When determining what attributes were important for New Jersey online casinos, we felt measuring the value of no deposit bonuses was at the top of that list.
Unfortunately, very few NJ online casinos (7) actually offered no deposit bonuses at the time of our test, and William Hill was not one of them. The fact that 70% of NJ online casinos did not offer a no deposit bonus weighed the average for the entire state heavily. In fact, if we removed the 17 casinos that did not have a free play bonus, the state average jumps from $4.14 to $14.21.
Regardless, William Hill’s $0.00 ABV for a no deposit bonus is not good. Especially when you compare it with BetMGM’s ABV of $24.50.

William Hill Casino NJ Online Casino Game Selection
William Hill New Jersey online casino finished in last place for our game selection test with 39 total games in its library. This was 511 fewer games than the NJ state average of 550 games. William Hill was the only casino in New Jersey to earn a 1-star rating in our test.
For a complete breakdown of game testing process, visit our New Jersey online casino game selection test results.
As of our test, William Hill NJ online casino had only 39 total games in its library. With so few games, it’s no surprise that the variety of game types was also lacking. William Hill only offers slots and table games at its casino.
A casino’s game library is an important part of the gaming experience it provides players. The more casino games available, the more likely someone is going to find something they enjoy playing and — in turn, the better their experience with that casino. This thinking is why we considered game selection such a priority when testing New Jersey online casinos.
We created accounts at every NJ online casino and manually counted all the casino games in each of the 24 legal online casino libraries. After finishing this process, we had the ability to rank and rate casinos based on the game selection available.
William Hill NJ online casino was dead last with only 39 games in its library. To demonstrate how bad this is, the 2nd worst casino in this test (Bet365) still had 68 more games or 274% more gaming option. In fact, William Hill had 14x fewer games than the NJ state average of 550 games.
Players looking for more options than William Hill, may want to play at BetMGM (1,121 games) or Borgata (1,103 games) — the top 2 casinos in our test.
Below shows the 5 online casinos that finished above William Hill in our game selection test.
19. Parx (243 games)
20. PokerStars (190 games)
21. Tropicana (177 games)
22. Virgin (176 games)
23. Bet365 (107 games)
24. William Hill (39 games)
William Hill NJ Online Casino Email Support Test
William Hill NJ online casino finished in 17th place in our email support test with a 50% response rate and average response time of 5.3 hours. The state average response rate was 69.13%, so William Hill was below average at email support responsiveness.
To get a complete overview of our testing process for email support at NJ online casinos, visit our New Jersey online casino email support test results page.
Our email support test for New Jersey online casinos aimed to find the most reliable casinos in the state at email support. We had originally wanted to measure not just responsiveness but actual helpfulness. Unfortunately, our test revealed how little emphasis casinos place on email support.
Our test involved sending the same 10 questions to 23 out of the 24 NJ online casinos (PokerStars did not offer email support). We sent the emails at different times and on different days to create a more realistic sample. We then tracked how long it took for the casino to respond, if at all, to our email.
Only 6 out of the 23 casinos tested (26%) responded to every email. To avoid skewing the data, we set a benchmark of 50% as the response rate — which William Hill met exactly.
William Hill’s 50% response rate was only better than 4 other casinos, but its 5.3-hour average response time beat out 7 other casinos and was roughly 12 hours faster than the NJ state average response time of 17.6 hours.
William Hill states that its customer support department is available 7 days a week, so if you are having trouble getting an answer via email like we were, then you may want to visit their customer support page and talk to someone on their Live Chat widget.
William Hill NJ Online Casino Website Speed
William Hill New Jersey online casino finished our page load analysis with an average load time of 3.00 seconds which placed them in 22nd place. The New Jersey state average was 1.88 seconds, so William Hill was 60% slower than the state average.
For more information about how we tested the New Jersey online casinos’ load times, visit our NJ online casino page load speed test page.
We tracked and recorded the page load speeds over 300 times for every NJ online casino. This was the sample size used to measure how fast, on average, each online casino was in New Jersey.
We chose the following 4 page types at every casino.
- Slots Page: Usually one of the largest/slowest pages at an online casino.
- Promotions Page: The part of the site that features all current bonuses.
- Responsible Gaming Page: An area of the casino for gambling addiction.
- Support Page: The resource page on the site for player support.
We ran our page load test using Pingdom every 30 seconds for a week straight. By the end of our test, we had a large data set for every casino in New Jersey. After analyzing these scores, we were able to determine the average page load time of each online casino.
William Hill finished our page load test with an average speed of 3.00 seconds. This was 1.12 seconds slower than the state average and one of the worst results we found. In fact, William Hill was only faster than 2 other NJ online casinos — DraftKings (3.13 seconds) and Golden Nugget (4.43 seconds)
Below shows the 3 online casinos that finished above William Hill and the 2 below it in our NJ online casino page load speed test.
19. BetMGM (2.61 seconds)
20. Borgata (2.71 seconds)
21. Caesars (2.89 seconds)
22. William Hill (3.00 seconds)
23. DraftKings (3.13 seconds)
24. Golden Nugget (4.43 seconds)
Whether or not you realize it, page load speed affects your experience on the web. In a world that’s becoming increasingly fast-paced, a few extra seconds waiting for a page to load can be irritating. It can also indicate more severe issues on the backend of the site. The less optimized and technically sound a website is, the slower it loads.
Knowing this, we thought it would be worthwhile to measure the page load speeds for all the NJ online casinos. In William Hill’s case, the result left much to be desired.
A page load speed of 3.00 seconds is better than the average website on the internet, but it’s no where near the fastest online casino in New Jersey. While an average time of 3.00 seconds is not concerning from a technical perspective, it is bad when you’re comparing it to other casinos which are able to deliver speeds under a second.
